The History Of The City
The Founding Of The City
New Britain was incorporated as a town in 1850 and as a city in 1871 after becoming independent of the Berlin-Kensington-New Britain parish. New Britain was an expansion off of Kensington, which was founded in the Christian Lane area (the road still exists, with the same name) and has expanded into the city it is today.
The town itself formed from the movement of three parishes into the now New Britain area.
